I am not an authority with makeup I confess, but along with my wife and some female experts, we’ve put together some top tips to help you look good and be sun smart for summer craft shows.
When it comes to summer makeup look during craft shows, sunscreen is the only thing you should be laying on thick.
But there’s more than using sunscreen!
Here are 3 essential products you need to keep in mind when you are trying to put on a makeup look this summer for your next craft show:
1. Primer
It is always ideal to prep your skin before adding concealers and foundations. Putting moisturizer is good but adding a primer is better. “Primers are definitely the way to go in summer,” says New York City-based makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff. “They don’t feel at all like a heavy, additional layer, and they really help hold makeup in place.”
2. Concealer
Walking around in 100-degree heat and sticky, stuffy humidity can do a number on a full face beat. Think: Smudges, smears, and all the sweat. To avoid the weather-worn mess, it is recommended lightening your routine for the season and using only what you need, like a concealer to cover shadows and spots. Dab a creamy concealer under eyes and on areas of concern with a finger.
3. Foundation
If you can’t bear to go bare (pun intended), apply a light layer of a tinted moisturizer for a sheer glow. My wife’s favorite (who is helping me write this post because it’s such a girly thing!) is NARS tinted moisturizer. Or, you could always make your own tinted coverage “Mix oil-free moisturizer with foundation for a softer, more sheer appearance,” she says.
