Adding Photos On Etsy Reviews – Is It Good Or Bad?

Craft Maker Pro » Adding Photos On Etsy Reviews – Is It Good Or Bad?

One of the best features of Etsy community is that buyers interact directly with independent artists, makers and collectors around the world. This intimate exchange is ultimately shared by leaving feedback, a reflection on a one-of-a-kind experience. And now, Etsy added a feature where buyers can upload photos of the products they receive along with their feedback.

Adding Photos On Etsy Reviews – Is It Good Or BadBut is it good or bad for your business? The answer is: it depends. We all know that reviews are crucial in every online business. Some may give you positive reviews, other may leave negative. But before you make a conclusion on its effect to your business, let’s learn more about it and see how it works.

“Starting today, Etsy buyers worldwide will have the option to upload a photograph of their purchase alongside a five-star review when using the Etsy app for iOS and Android devices. When buyers upload a photo of their purchase, it will appear everywhere the review does on Etsy, including your listing reviews and main shop reviews page. Buyers will also have the option to share their reviews on social media and via email and SMS text message. Our goal is to help you reach more potential buyers by making it easier for satisfied customers to spread the word about your shop and products.” – A Statement from Shadi Jurdi, Etsy Admin April 28, 2015

How It Works?

Buyers use Etsy’s five-star review system (one being the lowest and five being the highest) to review their purchases. When a buyer can leave a review is based on the estimated delivery date of the order and expires 60 calendar days from that date. The estimated delivery date is the purchase date + processing time + shipping days.

When buyers leave a five-star review of a purchase on the Etsy app, they will have the option to include a photograph of the purchase with their review. Once they upload a photo and submit the review, they will also be prompted to share the photo on email, SMS text message, Facebook, Pinterest, Google + and other social platforms. When they share a photo, it will appear along with your shop name and a link to your Etsy listing. To make it easier to leave five-star reviews in the Etsy app and encourage buyers to share photos of their purchases, they no longer require buyers to include words in those reviews.

You have the option to hide buyer photos on your shop reviews page and listing reviews.

Shoppers

You can leave a review by going to You > Purchases & Reviews and finding the order you want to leave a review for. The option won’t be available if the order is not eligible for reviewing. If the order is eligible for a review, select the star rating for the item, write your review, and then click Post Your Review.

On the Etsy app for iOS and Android:

Open the app and tap Purchases. Find your order and tap Leave Review. The option won’t be available if the order is not eligible for reviewing. If the order is eligible for a review, select the star rating for the item, write your review, and then tap Submit. If you leave a five-star review for your purchase, you will be given the option to include a photograph of your purchase. Note that the five word requirement for reviews still applies when uploading a photo alongside a five-star review.

Keep in mind that if an order or transaction is canceled, Etsy considers that order or transaction to be over and voided. However, it can take up to 48 hours for the cancellation to process, during which time an eligible review can be left and edited.

Sellers

You can see your reviews by going to Your Shop > Shop Settings > Shop Reviews. Your score is an average of the star ratings received in the last 12 months and is based on the date the review has been left. The review score, along with the number of reviews received over the lifetime of the shop, is displayed on the shop’s Reviews page.

If a buyer includes a photograph of their purchase alongside a five-star review, this photo will be visible to anyone who visits your Reviews page. You can respond to buyer reviews of 3-stars or less.

Hiding Photo Reviews

If you feel as though this photograph does not accurately reflect your brand or aesthetic, you may hide the photograph by navigating to the Reviews page from your desktop computer or from the Sell on Etsy app. You can select the Hide Photo from Buyers link located directly under the photo. If you feel as though this review photograph is in violation of Etsy policies, please click the Report this Review link directly under the review.

Learn more about Etsy’s review system and start thinking about your product packaging, shipping, and customer support to offer the best customer experience and start gaining positive feedbacks. Even though we can’t please everyone, don’t worry, there are easy ways to deal with negative reviews on Etsy.
