A New Place To Sell Your Products OnlineFacebook Marketplace might help you!

Earlier this month, I got a notification from Facebook about this marketplace and I thought ‘Oh that’s new!’. So I checked how it works and got curious if handmade sellers might find it useful.

So here’s what I what found out:

Facebook Marketplace is a great place to find, buy and sell stuff with the people near you. It allows you to see items from 2 km to 100 km from your location. The user interface is also very friendly for people who are tech savvy.

To visit Marketplace, just tap on the shop icon at the bottom of the Facebook app and start exploring.

When buying, you can set filters such as the location, category and price.

You can easily use the search bar on top and its filter to quickly find what you are looking for. You can also browse what’s available in a variety of categories such as Arts & Crafts, Antiques & Collectibles, etc.

From there, you can message the seller from Marketplace to tell them you’re interested and make an offer.

Use the built-in location tool to adjust the region you’re looking in, or switch to a different city altogether.

If you want to sell your products, you just need to click on the ‘+ Sell Something’ blue button found at the upper right corner of the page.

If you click on it, you will see this pop up window:

You will be able to provide the name of the item, price, and category and describe your item. Personally, I would include the name of my Etsy shop or website at the product description to add more exposure and drive traffic to my online store.

Final Thoughts:
I like the idea of being able to see who you’re dealing with by looking at the person’s Facebook profile (beware of dummy accounts though!). It is also a great opportunity to meet people who have the same interest with you. Social media is becoming stronger than ever!

So what are your thoughts? Are you going to try this marketplace? Please let us know in the comments.
